George Weyman, the inventor of Copenhagen snuff, opened his tobacco shop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the 1820s. In April 1845, Weyman's tobacco shop was one of the few businesses to survive the great Pittsburgh Fire.  Nearly two decades later, George Weyman relinquished control of the shop to his sons Benjamin and William Weyman. Following their father's death in 1870, Benjamin and William officially adopted the name Weyman & Bro.   Copenhagen is now manufactured by the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company.
